Custom Design - FAQs

Untitled Document
What album companies do you design for?
We can design for any album company! Simply note your choice of album vendor on your order form, and we will design your layout to their specifications.
What design software is used?
Each spread is carefully designed in Photoshop®, without the aid of templates or album design software. This guarantees a unique layout for each page of your album... a true custom design.
What type of files do you accept?
We accept high resolution JPG or TIFF files. (We accept RAW files only if you are requesting color/image correction services.)
What color profile should the image files be?
All images must have the same color profile of Adobe RGB (1998) or sRGB.
Do you provide color correction and retouching services?
Yes, we provide these services through Silverback Imaging.
Should I crop or edit the color of images before submitting?
All images should be fully retouched and color corrected prior to submission, unless requesting this service through Silverback Imaging. You may crop or color convert (black &white / duotone) your images, or let us make those design enhancements as needed.
How can I send my images?
There are a few options. You are welcome to use whichever submission method best fits your workflow.

OPTION 1 Zip a folder of all files and upload at:
http://dropbox.yousendit.com/RedBootDesign
OPTION 2 Load files to your own FTP site and send us download info.
OPTION 3 Mail your order to:
Red Boot Design
19855 Fourth St., Suite 105
Bend, OR 97701
How many images can I submit?
Please submit only the images to be used in the design. (For the most flexibility in design, we prefer about 2.5 images per side, or 5 per spread.) You may provide a handful of additional images that may or may not be used in the design, but please do not send every image from a session or event.

  Example:
    20 sides = 50 images
    50 sides = 125 images
    100 sides = 250 images
How should I organize my images for design?
Images should be numbered sequentially, in the order you would like them in your album. (This is especially important if there was more than one photographer, and cameras were not synced.) We may adjust the image order slightly to best fit the design, but will stick to the sequential order as best as possible.
Images should be submitted in ONE folder.
Orders submitted with images out of order may incur additional fees and/or delays.
Is there a difference between a side and a page?
A side and a page are the same thing. A spread has two sides/pages; one on the right, and one on the left side.
What are your design fees?
Red Boot Design offers its services to professional photographers creating books for resale and promotional purposes. For this reason, our pricing is not public. Please contact us to request pricing.
What type of payment do you accept?
We accept VISA, MasterCard, or American Express.
When will my credit card be charged?
Custom design orders are charged upon receipt. If additional charges are incurred for revisions, etc., charges will be made prior to releasing files.
How long does the design process take?
Turnaround time is 7-10 business days from the receipt of all files and payment, although we will always try to complete your order as soon as possible.
Do I have any design input?
Absolutely! You are welcome to note any design preferences on your design order form. You may also include a sample of a preferred design style with your order form if you wish. If you wish to speak to a designer in person, we are more than happy to contact you before starting on your design.
